A REAL GROWTH STORY
From a family farm to the Ohio Valley's homemade ice cream.
1926
Kirke's grandfather, Herb Walker, starts making homemade ice cream at his family's boarding house in Colerain, Ohio.
1992
Kirke Porterfield opens Kirke's Homemade Ice Cream in St. Clairsville, turning the family tradition into a shop of its own.
2025
Kirke's opens a second location in Shadyside, Ohio — its first expansion beyond St. Clairsville in over 30 years.
2026
A $900K investment, backed by JobsOhio, funds a new production facility — expanding capacity for wholesale and future growth.
